The Dalai Lama is the title obtained by the leader of the Tibetan Central Administration and the spiritual leader of Tibetan Lamaism or Buddhism. It is the term used in Tibetan Buddhism and in the Bön religion to refer to that teacher who has managed to have partial or total control in death over the form of his reincarnation, and the knowledge of the place of his new birth. The current Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso.
