For a long time, my dear friend Lidia gives me an impromptu morning of yoga and meditation from time to time. We never go to the same place: we want to discover, each time, a different technique, a peculiar look, smells and new sensations. We consider it our personal meditation tasting and it has taken us through urban flats, Japanese gardens or Buddhist houses, always new places throughout these last years, in search of that time dedicated to appeasing the mind and finding a little peace.
There is something very true: taking care of the mind and spirit cannot be something that one does only once in a while! But with our occasional excursions, Lidia and I managed to surprise and have fun, mixing friendship with discipline, laughter with the challenge of overcoming ourselves. Instead of training alone, at home, we join forces to celebrate the adventure of living, with other people, other life experiences.
I am often surprised to realize that sometimes we face the important as if it were necessarily hurtful and uninteresting. The truth is that any challenge, serious and profound as it may be, becomes easier and integrates better when we do it with joy: educating a child, caring for a sick person, going to work, meditating and learning to train the mind positive ... Nothing without joy!
Do you want to find company to do your own meditation tasting? Or do you prefer, for the moment, to practice alone, alone? Here's a light interpretation of meditation, this great form of emotional and spiritual management that India has bequeathed to us.
