Sergol and Elonio were two friends who shared a common hobby: both were great observers of everything that happened around them. They loved to meet from time to time to debate positions, analyze facts, and turn any established belief or dogma around.
The two friends were able to spend evenings and even whole nights like this, as they enjoyed these kinds of debates enormously regardless of their positions on it.
One day, while sitting under a large tree, a light breeze began to blow. At that moment one of them said:
"You know, Sergol, although it seems obvious, I have come to the conclusion that it is the wind that moves the branches of the trees.
—But, Elonio, don't be ignorant, that is the popular belief, but if you investigate a little more, you will realize that it is actually the branches of the trees that move the wind.
—But… what nonsense you say, that is impossible, everyone knows that it is the opposite, that the wind moves the branches, the blades of the mills, the leaves, the kites…
—Everyone, everyone… everyone also thought that the earth was flat…
At that moment, an old man who had been listening to the conversation said to them:
"Right now I don't know if it is the wind that moves the branches or it is the branches that move the wind, but when I listened to you I realized that it is minds that are the only thing capable of moving the world."
