If you were a flea and you were on the back of an elephant, you would only see a forest of gray hairs growing around you, with no idea where you were. But if you were to jump high up in the air and look back, you would see that you actually live in the skin of a living creature.
The vision brings humility, and with it, a sense of strangeness and compassion that is translated into the problems of ordinary life.
Just as you can learn balance of a stork and presence of a cat, you can learn the Law of Compassion of the Earth, on the skin from which we live, the trees from which we cut and burn, the wealth from which we exploit, making our businesses without thinking or asking permission or thanking.
The earth forgives us because it knows that we are meat of its flesh - we are a part of it that is still learning and growing.
If the Earth can forgive your mistakes, can't you forgive, and offer others compassion?
